The Players of the Barker Playhouse theatre will perform their 5th Annual Theatre-in-the Park series this Friday. This year’s theme is “The Charm of New England,” a revue of songs, scenes, comedic monologue, and themes which paint a picture of New England. This year’s performance is on Friday, August 26th at 6:30 – 7:30 pm, hosted by the Friends of Pawtuxet Village. Admission is FREE, so bring a lawn chair and your picnic basket and be transported back to a gentler, more peaceful time in our history.
Margarita de Santis, Players’ Chair of the Outreach Committee and director, designer, and producer of these shows, explains “that this performance has been geared for the entire family’s enjoyment. All the performers—the actors, the musicians, and crew—are members of the Players and bring a wealth of talent and experience to each production. The audience will experience a feeling of nostalgic contentment, familiarity, and enjoyment during this hour-long “Revue.” As the audience is getting settled, they will enjoy a loop of musical standards which will be followed by the MC who will open the show.” Margarita continues, “This is what real theater is meant to be... a small backdrop, a few props, and the magic begins.” The Players host, The Friends of Pawtuxet Village, provide a PA system to enhance the audience’s listening pleasure.
